Hello dear friends:

To everyone who took time to pray for the P.I.N.K. slumber party last weekend, your prayers made a difference. Thank you….I’m grateful.

To everyone who shared generously with finances or give-aways for the goodie bags and helped  make this event happen. Thank you….I’m grateful.

To the young women who decided to attend an event where most likely they did not know anyone, but came to make friends and be a friend. Thank you…..I’m grateful.

To my husband who was away on a business trip and my son who was out of state at summer camp when our home turned into a sorority house for Jesus. I missed you, but…..I’m grateful.

To the amazing talented women who shared their talents and time in makeup, beauty treatments and massage to give a little “posh” to some very deserving pastor’s daughters. Thank you…..I’m grateful.

To my most fabulous friend, our special guest for the P.I.N.K. Slumber Party, Jessica Hinn-Koulanious, whose honesty and transparency about her own journey in life gave insight and courage for all the girls to “find God for themselves.” Thank you….I’m grateful.

To the precious Holy Spirit whose presence saturated my living room and enabled our worship and word to change lives. Thank you….I’m grateful.

For those who have guided me on my journey, prayed for me when I needed peace and lit the fire of God in my heart with their own passion for God. Thank you…..I’m grateful!!!

Dear Friends,

Blessings to you today and always.  This Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, 2009 are significant days for my ministry and what God has called me to do.  This weekend is the P.I.N.K. Summer Slumber Party.

P.I.N.K. (Pursue God, Invest in Others, Nourish Yourself and Keep the Faith)  is an outreach of Angela Courte Ministries specifically for pastors and ministers daughters.  Did you know that 88% of preachers kids opt out of ministry entirely by age 18?  That is a heartbreaking statistic considering God always chooses a family, never just an individual.  There are a hundred different reasons many preachers kids are becoming disillusioned and jaded by the demands of the work of the ministry and the personal toll it can take on the family unit.

Just today, I had to reach out to a beautiful young 16 year old minister’s daughter and pour in the oil and wine (like the old timers used to say) because some people at church said very unkind and unflattering things to her after service. She is beginning to express her own personal style as a young woman and they unnecessarily judged her.  Her shield of faith was down because she was in the house of God and their curt words cut right into her heart.  After some conversation, love and laughter, she was emotionally restored and I encouraged her to stay strong, walk in love and keep the faith.

“Keep the Faith” is our theme for the slumber party this weekend.  Over 25 young women from 23 different churches in Central Florida (and one flying in from out of state) have already signed up and registrations are coming in everyday.  My house is going to be a great big slumber party event and I can’t wait!  There is an easy and warm connection with pastor’s daughters.  Just like Worship, the Word and the Prophetic, they are part of my assignment in ministry.  I love them unconditionally.  I listen to them.  I pray for them.  I open my schedule for them.  I believe in them.

Without a doubt, in addition to my precious parents, God sent some “big sisters” into my life as I was growing up. It is their kindness to me and interest in me that helped to keep my focus straight ahead on fulfilling the will of God and working through the unique happenings in a ministry family. Now it is my turn to be the big sister….but I need your help. Our P.I.N.K. Slumber Party will be from Friday, July 17th at 6pm to Saturday July 18th at 12 noon.  This 18 hour event includes Worship, Word study, a beauty bar, personal testimony from Jessica (Hinn) Koulianous, a pizza party, Q&A time and much more.

To help this event I am asking you, my friends, to help with the following:

A) Will you pray for the event?  We need intercession by the saints for all 18 hours of the slumber party.  If you’re willing, please email me which time of day or night you will take.

B) Will you consider a special one time $40 gift to help with the expenses of the event?  We are expecting 40 to attend.  Please consider giving $1 per girl.  We are about $800 below budget.  I do not charge the girls to attend, their families give enough.  We need to cover all the meals, expenses and goodies for gift bags.  Thankyou so much!

C) Can you do both?  Your gifts of time and finances will proceed to the Father as a sweet smelling savor.  I know God’s heart must be close to the tender and brokenhearted

Let me hear from you today as the  P.I.N.K. event is less than 5 days away.  Make checks payable to Angela Courte Ministries and mail to:  5505 Latrobe Drive, Windermere, FL  34786.  If you would like to put your generous gift on a bank card, please call (407) 810-7750 for further instructions and personal service.

If you can pray for 15, 30, 45 or even 60 minutes during the event, email your time of choice. Your prayers will make the difference.  Many of the young women coming are strong and doing great but they are vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy who wants to hurt or wound them in their pursuit of God.

There is something powerful that happens when believers gather in a home for fellowship. I believe lives will be transformed and passions ignited for Christ in my living room this weekend.

Invest in others, as you would want someone to invest in you.

Please let me hear from you today and on behalf of all of my sisters…..Thank you!!!

May God continue to pour out His love and blessings on you, your children and generations to come.

Best~

Tonight was our first meeting of “The Sound”.  Dr. Ron Kenoly came and spoke to a packed room of worship leaders, singers, musicians and Pastors about the heart of what we do.  Dr. Kenoly shared on the essence of praise and worship, worshipping in spirit and truth and working with the pastor.  After Q&A and a time of prayer this great evening concluded with new friendships formed during the desserts and conversations. We have some of the most anointed and talented worship leaders in the country…..right here in Central Florida. Thanks to Dr. Kenoly and everyone who came to be a part of “The Sound!”

This is going to be an interesting Thanksgiving. Because of the unexpected downturn in the economy, this is the first year I have made no plans to shop on Black Friday. Matter of fact, I don’t even feel like shopping right now.
Family and friends, never fear, I can’t stay away from the mall that long, eventually I will make the annual pilgrimage to the stores and purchase each of you fabulous (and most likely on sale) gifts 🙂
Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday. We are the only country which has set aside a weekday to give thanks to our creator (those were George Washington’s words) and our neighbor alike. As I have revisited the history behind this special day, this year I feel a tad more connected with the early pilgrims. The pilgrims were actually Puritan Christians who paid a shipping company to bring them to the “New World.” The puritan movement began in England. When they pushed for reforms in the Church of England, they encountered persecution and fled to the Dutch lands which was more religiously tolerant. However, they soon discovered that the people were tolerant in almost every sense of the word and feared their future living in such a secular society. They longed for a land where they could practice their brand of simplistic Christian faith in peace and freedom.  Their drive for freedom led over 100 of them to take the chance of a lifetime, cross the harsh Atlantic sea in November 1620 and create their future in the New World. However, the boats got off course and they did not land in the warm waters of Virginia, but the frigid waters of Mattachettues.

Half of the Puritan settlers died in the first winter from sickness, cold and starvation. Eventually spring came and along with the warmer weather so did some friendly indians. Who, out of kindness, showed them how to plant corn and other crops, make houses, and survive in the wilderness of the Northeast. That summer, they had a bumper crop from their plantings and celebrated with a three day feast inviting the kind indian neighbors.

The early pilgrims did not at all see the harsh winter, lost loved ones and almost utter devastation that was to befall them. But God in his goodness, sent some of his other precious people to assist in rebuilding the frazzled and bewildered settlers. Eventually, their lives were rebuilt and their love for God planted seeds of devotion in this fertile land.

This November is effecting many of us like the first November the Pilgrims discovered. Our economy has lost 2 Trillion dollars in the last few weeks, many have lost jobs and are feeling a sense of bewilderedness . We have found ourselves living though a very chilly fall season we didn’t see coming. We were hoping for the warm waters of a self correcting economy, but instead have landed smack in the middle of a horrendous storm of financial loss, untested leadership , and bailouts.

You may ask where is God? He is with you. Jesus promised never to leave or forsake us. Our God is the God of the valley and the mountain and as Psalm 23 promises, He will restore our soul.

Thanksgiving may be an American holiday, but it is a Christian’s mandate because it causes a refocus of our perspective. You cannot give thanks and have a grudging heart. And you cannot operate in faith without thanksgiving.

Remembering how God brought the pilgrims that terrible winter of 1620/1621 can be a true reminder that God will bring us through also. Spring will come and only God knows who he has waiting to come and help us. You have the favor of God on your life and His mercies are new every morning.

Enjoy the family, the feast and the football tomorrow. Take some personal time to say Thanks to our precious, loving savior. Keep and attitude of gratitude and together, we will make it through……..

Halloween is an interesting day for us as Christians. Some believers celebrate with parties and Full-Force-Fun while others ignore the holiday all together. Some have chosen to opt for the local church Fall Festivals and choose to dress up like Bible Characters.  Many, like me, pick and choose costumes and activities that are appropriate for their children… maybe trick or treating in your communitry, but no dressing up in scary or occult-like costumes.

I have to say that the entire concept of Halloween is completely different than when I grew up.  All the neighborhood kids went door to door.  Parents never checked the candy for poison or razor blades and most of us were either cowboys, cheerleaders, astronauts or if we were short on time and budget, a pathetic attempt of a ghost in a old white bed sheet from the guest room with two holes for eyes cut out.

Well, those times are over. And this year Michael is 10 years old and more aware of witches, ghosts and “The Force” because of the media and the culture we live.  I can’t monitor everything he sees or everything a classmate says, but I can impart God’s thoughts through example, scripture, conversation and prayer.

What does the Courte family do?  My husband and I go with him from house to house to collect the treats and then we are off to the church Fall Festival tonight.
